Cosmetic Mole Removal in Newport Beach

A cosmetically bothersome mole — raised, pigmented, or simply in an unwanted location — can be removed precisely with Nd:YAG laser. No scalpel, no stitches, no significant downtime.

Cosmetic mole removal at Plump uses the same Nd:YAG laser technology used for vascular and pigmented lesion treatment. The laser energy is absorbed by the pigment and tissue of the mole, breaking it down layer by layer with precision that minimizes impact on surrounding skin. The result is a flat, fading treatment site that heals cleanly over 2 to 4 weeks.

Cosmetic mole removal is for benign, cosmetically unwanted moles only. Any mole with irregular borders, multiple colors, rapid change, or other concerning features requires dermatological evaluation before any treatment. Dr. Mortazavi assesses each lesion at consultation and will refer for dermatological review when indicated. Patient safety is the priority — a cosmetic procedure is never performed on a lesion that warrants medical investigation first.

What to expect

Consultation

Dr. Mortazavi examines the mole, assesses its clinical appearance, and confirms it is appropriate for cosmetic laser removal. Lesions that show any features of concern are referred for dermatological evaluation before proceeding. Once cleared, the treatment plan and expected healing are discussed.

Treatment

Topical numbing is applied before treatment. The Nd:YAG laser is applied to the mole in precise pulses, breaking down the pigment and tissue. Treatment takes 5 to 15 minutes per mole. A small crust forms at the treatment site immediately after.

Healing

The treated area crusts and heals over 2 to 4 weeks. The crust should not be picked or disturbed — it falls away naturally as the skin beneath heals. SPF is essential during healing. Most moles resolve in a single session; larger or deeper moles may need a second treatment 6 to 8 weeks later.
