Botox, Dysport & Xeomin
in Newport Beach
FDA-approved neurotoxin treatments performed personally by Dr. Amir Mortazavi, MD. Natural-looking results for the face, neck, jaw, and body — precisely dosed and individually designed for each patient.
Three Neurotoxins. One Standard of Care.
Plump Medical Spa offers Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin — three FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A products. All three work by temporarily relaxing the targeted muscle to soften dynamic wrinkles and lines. Dr. Mortazavi selects the appropriate product based on your anatomy, history, and treatment goals — not by default.
For patients who have developed genuine resistance or immunity to all type A neurotoxins (Botox, Dysport, Xeomin), Plump offers Myobloc — a botulinum toxin type B product. This is a fundamentally different mechanism and one of the few clinical solutions for true neurotoxin non-responders. Plump is one of the few practices in Orange County offering Myobloc as a primary treatment option.
Treatment Areas
Neurotoxin at Plump is used for far more than forehead lines. Dr. Mortazavi treats a full range of facial, neck, jaw, and body applications:

What to Expect
Before: No special preparation is required. Avoid blood thinners (ibuprofen, aspirin, fish oil) for a few days prior if possible to reduce bruising risk. Arrive with clean skin.
During: Dr. Mortazavi assesses the treatment area, marks injection points, and uses a fine needle to place precise amounts of neurotoxin into the targeted muscle. The procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on the areas treated. Discomfort is minimal — most patients describe it as a quick pinch.
After: No downtime. Minor swelling, redness, or small bumps at injection sites resolve within 20 to 30 minutes. Avoid lying down for 4 hours, avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours, and avoid rubbing the treated area. Results visible in 2 to 5 days, full effect at 2 weeks.
Every neurotoxin treatment at Plump is performed personally by Dr. Mortazavi — not delegated to a nurse or aesthetician. He selects the appropriate product, determines the precise dose for each area, and performs every injection himself. His philosophy is conservative and anatomy-driven: the goal is always a natural result that enhances without announcing itself.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin?
All three are FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A products that work by temporarily relaxing the targeted muscle. The differences are subtle — Dysport may spread slightly more and work faster for some patients; Xeomin has no accessory proteins, which may benefit patients who have developed mild resistance to Botox. Dr. Mortazavi selects the product based on your history and the treatment area.
Is Xeomin as effective as Botox?
Yes. Clinical studies show Xeomin produces comparable results to Botox for FDA-approved indications including frown lines. Its protein-free formulation means patients who have developed mild resistance to Botox may respond better to Xeomin. Results and duration are similar across all three type A neurotoxins.
How long does Botox or Xeomin last?
Results typically last 3 to 4 months for facial areas. Masseter Botox may last 4 to 6 months. Body applications (TrapTox, arm slimming, calf) last approximately 3 to 5 months. With regular treatment, some patients find results last longer over time as muscle activity decreases.
What if Botox has stopped working for me?
Some patients develop resistance to type A neurotoxins over time. Dr. Mortazavi will assess whether you have true resistance or another reason for reduced effect. For patients with genuine type A resistance, Myobloc — a type B botulinum toxin — is available at Plump. This is one of the few practices in Orange County offering this option.
Is there any downtime after neurotoxin treatment?
No. Most patients return to normal activities immediately. Minor bumps or redness at injection sites resolve within 20 to 30 minutes. Avoid lying down for 4 hours, strenuous exercise for 24 hours, and rubbing the treated area. Results begin to appear in 2 to 5 days and peak at 2 weeks.
