What to expect

Treatment

Topical numbing is applied 30 to 45 minutes before treatment. The FraX handpiece is passed precisely over the perioral area — above and below the lips and the corners of the mouth. Treatment takes 15 to 20 minutes. Most patients find it very tolerable once numbing has taken effect.

Recovery

2 to 5 days of redness and mild peeling around the mouth. Most patients are comfortable returning to normal activities within 2 to 3 days with mineral makeup. Avoid lipstick and lip products for 48 hours. SPF is essential for 2 weeks after treatment.

Results and sessions

Improvement in lip line depth and skin texture is visible within 2 to 4 weeks as collagen remodeling progresses. Most patients need 2 to 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart for meaningful improvement in established lip lines. Results continue to develop for 3 to 6 months after each session.
