Every practice in Newport Beach promises natural-looking lips. It's not a differentiator — it's the baseline claim, and it tells you nothing about what you'll actually get.

Two things do tell you something.

Who injects you. At most medical spas in Orange County, that's a nurse, nurse practitioner, or physician assistant. Legal in California, and often good care. Here it's Dr. Mortazavi, every visit.

What happens if you don't like it. That question matters more than any promise made beforehand — and it's answered further down this page.

Overfilling doesn't happen in one appointment.

It happens across years. A syringe now, a top-up in nine months, a little more the following year — each visit reasonable on its own, nobody tracking the total, and filler frequently persisting far longer than the marketed duration. By the time it's obvious, several syringes have accumulated.

Lips are where this shows first, because the perioral area is small and the eye is unforgiving of proportion.

Treatment here is conservative by default: less than most patients expect, with reassessment at two weeks rather than adding more on the day. Continuity matters more than technique for this specific problem — the same physician across years is the thing that catches gradual drift.

If you don't like it, it can come out.

HA filler is reversible. Hyaluronidase dissolves it, usually within days.

More than that: filler correction is a substantial part of this practice. Ultrasound-guided dissolving using Butterfly iQ3 imaging visualises product before enzyme is placed rather than estimating by feel — which matters when filler has migrated above the lip border, a common lip-specific problem.

You don't have to hope it goes well. There's a route back if it doesn't.

Sometimes filler isn't what you need.

Lips that roll inward when you smile → a lip flip may give you more show without volume.

What to expect: 20 to 30 minutes with numbing. Lips swell more than any other area — expect significant swelling for 24 to 48 hours and don't judge anything before two weeks. Bruising is common.
