SkinVive — Skin from Within
The first and only FDA-approved intradermal HA microdroplet injection for long-lasting improvement in cheek skin smoothness. SkinVive doesn't add volume — it improves the quality, hydration, and glow of your skin from the inside out.
What Is SkinVive?
SkinVive by Juvederm is a first-of-its-kind FDA-approved treatment that uses microdroplets of hyaluronic acid injected intradermally — into the superficial layer of the skin itself rather than beneath it. Unlike traditional dermal fillers that add volume and structure, SkinVive works entirely within the skin to improve its intrinsic quality.
The result is skin that looks smoother, feels more hydrated, and has a natural glow — without looking "filled" or altered. It is particularly effective for patients whose skin has lost the luminous, healthy quality it once had — due to age, sun exposure, environmental stress, or rapid weight loss.
Traditional fillers replace lost volume — they change the shape and structure of the face. SkinVive works at the skin level, improving texture, hydration, and surface quality without altering anatomy. It is appropriate for patients who look fine in structure but want their skin to look and feel better — softer, more luminous, more hydrated.
What SkinVive Improves
How SkinVive Works
SkinVive uses a proprietary Vycross technology to create very small, lightly cross-linked HA particles. These microdroplets are injected in a grid pattern into the superficial dermis — the upper layer of the skin — using a fine needle or cannula. Once in place, the HA integrates into the skin structure and begins attracting and retaining water molecules, improving the skin's intrinsic moisture content from within.

Repeat treatments recommended every 6 months to maintain results
SkinVive is one of the few treatments at Plump that isn't about changing anatomy — it's about improving what's already there. Dr. Mortazavi uses it as part of a comprehensive skin quality approach, often in combination with laser resurfacing, Sculptra, or Tirzepatide management for patients experiencing GLP-1-related skin quality changes. All SkinVive treatments are performed personally by Dr. Mortazavi.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is SkinVive and how is it different from filler?
SkinVive by Juvederm is an intradermal HA microdroplet injection — it is placed in the superficial dermis (skin layer) rather than beneath the skin like traditional filler. It does not add volume or change facial structure. Instead it improves skin smoothness, hydration, and luminosity from within. It is the first FDA-approved treatment of its kind specifically for cheek skin quality.
How long do SkinVive results last?
Clinical studies showed significant improvement in cheek skin smoothness maintained at 6 months following a single SkinVive treatment. Repeat treatments every 6 months are recommended to maintain results.
Is SkinVive safe for darker skin tones?
Yes. SkinVive is appropriate for all skin types and Fitzpatrick skin tones. Unlike some laser treatments, it does not carry pigmentation risk for darker skin. It is one of the most universally appropriate skin quality treatments available.
Can SkinVive be combined with Botox or filler?
Yes. SkinVive can be combined with neurotoxin or traditional filler in the same appointment in most cases. Dr. Mortazavi will advise on the appropriate sequencing. It is commonly used as a complement to structural filler treatments to improve the overall quality and radiance of the skin alongside volumetric results.
Is there downtime after SkinVive?
Minimal. Small bumps at injection sites and mild redness are normal immediately after treatment and typically resolve within 24 to 48 hours. Most patients return to normal activities the same day. Makeup can be applied the following day.
Is SkinVive good for Ozempic or GLP-1 skin changes?
Yes. Rapid weight loss from GLP-1 medications like Tirzepatide can affect skin quality — reduced plumpness, dullness, and texture changes can occur even without dramatic volume loss. SkinVive addresses the intrinsic skin quality component of these changes and is one of several treatments Dr. Mortazavi uses for patients managing GLP-1-related aesthetic concerns at Plump.
