Who Is a Good Candidate?

Patients who feel their skin has lost its natural luminosity with age. Patients who already have structural filler but want better tissue quality on top of it.
Volume or structural concerns
Patients whose primary concern is thin lips, hollowing, sagging, or loss of facial definition. SkinVive will not address these — structural HA filler, Sculptra, or a combination is more appropriate. What to Expect
Consultation and treatment planning
Dr. Mortazavi assesses skin and lip quality, hydration level, and the specific concerns the patient wants addressed before determining the placement approach. The number of syringes depends on the areas treated and the degree of improvement needed.
Treatment
Topical numbing is applied first. SkinVive is administered using a fine needle in a series of small intradermal injections across the treatment area. The product is placed into the superficial dermis — not deep beneath the tissue — which is why placement precision matters. Treatment takes 20 to 30 minutes. Most patients find it very comfortable once numbing has taken effect. Lip treatment is more sensitive than facial areas and numbing is given additional time to work.
Immediately after
Small bumps at injection sites are normal and typically resolve within a few hours to a day. Mild redness is expected. In the lips, brief swelling is common and settles within 24 to 48 hours. Most patients return to normal activities immediately — though significant sun exposure, heat, and strenuous exercise are best avoided for 24 hours. Makeup and lip products can generally be resumed the following day.
Results and duration
Skin and lips feel immediately softer as the HA integrates with surrounding tissue. The full result — improved glow, smoother texture, softer fine lines — develops over 2 to 4 weeks. Results typically last 6 months, though the lips, being a high-movement, high-metabolism area, sometimes resolve slightly sooner. Most patients maintain with treatment every 4 to 6 months.
